    Yes, you can downgrade devices.
And the STL (Z10) and SQN (Q10) things are models.
Currently, there are 5 different Z10 models.

The STL100-1: for markets with no LTE, an OMAP processor instead of an Snapdragon and a Power VR GPU instead of an Adreno.
    Bands:
    EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
    HSPA+ 850/900/1900/2100 MHz

The STL100-2 for the UK and most of Europe, with LTE, Snapdragon processor, and Adreno GPU.
    Bands:
    EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
    HSPA+ 2100/850/900 MHz
    LTE 1800/2600/900/700 MHz

The STL100-3 for the US and most of America, with LTE, Snapdragon processor and Adreno GPU. This one itself has two variants, the RFK121LW with an extra HSPA band support (the 1700MHz), and the RFF91LW.
    Bands:
    RFK121LW:
    EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
    HSPA+ 800/850/1700/1900/2100MHz
    LTE 700/850/1900/1700 MHz
    RFF91LW:
    EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
    HSPA+ 800/850/1900/2100MHz
    LTE 700/850/1900/1700 MHz

The STL100-4 for Verizon Wireless on the US, with LTE, Snapdragon Processor and Adreno GPU.
    Bands:
    CDMA 850/1900 MHz
    WCDMA 900/2100 MHz
    EDGE 850/900/1900/1800 MHz
    LTE 700MHz

As for the leaks you see around here...
The -1 OS is not comepatible with the others (-2,-3,-4) and vice versa, because of the different processor.
-2 and -3 are always compatible.
And -4 is almost always compatible with -2 and -3.
    Hope everything is clear.

    My bad, those are SQN
    Of course I can.
As of today, there are 5 Q10 Models. All of them have LTE, the same processor and GPU, so I'll just post the bands.
All OSes should be compatible between those 5.

SQN100-1 Similar to the STL100-3 RFF91LW (No 1700 for HSPA+), for the US and most of America:
    EDGE 850/900/1800/1900
    HSPA+ 800/850/1900/2100
    LTE 700/850/1700/1900

SQN100-2 for Verizon Wireless on the US but compatible with a lot of other carriers:
    CDMA 800/1900
    EDGE 850/900/1800/1900
    HSPA+ 800/850/900/1900/2100
    LTE 700/1700

SQN100-3 for the UK, most of Europe and Rogers in Canada:
    EDGE 850/900/1900/1800
    HSPA+ 800/850/900/1900/2100
    LTE 800/900/1800/2600

SQN100-4 for Sprint on the US:
    CDMA 800/1900
    EDGE 850/900/1900/2100
    HSPA+ 800/850/900/1900/2100
    LTE 1900

SQN100-5 (like the STL100-3 RFK121LW, with the additional HSPA+ 1700MHz band) for the US and most of america:
    EDGE 850/900/1800/1900
    HSPA+ 800/850/1700/1900/2100
    LTE 700/850/1700/1900
