It's like SMS, only you send to another user's BB pin... (no need to add/invite as on BBM, you just send the message to that PIN and it'll be delivered). BBM could be for more 'personal' contacts while PIN could be associated with 'business' contacts...

It's more like BlackBerry to BlackBerry email as it can be any size really. You would use it if you want to send a totally secure or maybe just lengthy message to a bbm contact or maybe just another BlackBerry user whose PIN you have obtained.

No attachments at the moment. I'm not sure if the legacy devices do attachments on pin messaging. When I used to get them on my torch and bold, they were all in red to signify urgency or importance. I do notice that you can choose the level of importance of the message although not sure what difference that makes at the other end. It's rarely used these days but it is immediate as it uses BlackBerry servers same as bbm and also gives the usual R's and D's.

K, thanks. I remember I used to use them before I jumped into BBM back in the day.

As I recall, PIN messages show a D when delivered. Don't remember getting an R when read like in BlackBerry Messenger. And yes, PIN messages were usually red.
