Perhaps different radio files vary how aggressive they get with TX power. That is, trade off performance for battery life.

But isn't such a ratio quantifiable and tested for by the OS team--which at this point hopefully extends beyond CBers who install leaks and comment on them?

I personally find that the 10.3.1.xxxx radio is really good on the classic. Not sure about the other BB10 phones, as my wife only turns on her Z10 loaded with 10.3.1.22xx only when she needs to use it.

The TX power wouldn't be a surprise to the OS team. Rather it is an engineering tradeoff.
