I have T-mobile. I recently moved to iPhone, but would like to use my Q10 strictly for emails. I presumed email would be fully functional without the sim card but that seems not to be the case. Oddly enough, emails are received hours later and when attempting to send emails nothing goes through. Attached are my email account settings to see if configurations were needed

    Thanks

Well, the Q10 should work for email without a SIM, and your settings appear to be correct. The only problem I can see is the 30 minute sync interval, which will disable push.

That being said, I have been testing LogicMail for legacy devices with various email services recently, and read somewhere that gmail's IMAP implementation is very poor. They want you to use their app. I don't know if that's possible through Cobalt's mods or not.

Question: do you have 2-factor authentication on your gmail account? If so, did you create an application-specific password?

You might have better success with POP, but of course, POP retrieves emails from the server inbox rather than syncing all of your folders.

Also, do you have IMAP enabled in your gmail account settings?

Here's another thread where someone was facing the same problem with gmail's IMAP server: http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe.../#post12404513

    It might prove helpful.

On the SMTP server, did you try Port 587? Sometimes that will fix things.

One last thing: make sure there are no extra spaces in any of the fields (like a space after your password or username, etc.)

    Thanks for the response !

-As for as the sync interval what setting what should I set it to (Manual, 1 hour, 5 mins etc ) ?

-To be frank I don't recall using a 2-Factor Authentication/2FA on my Gmail account. Is there a way to find out ?

-As suggested I tried, changing the STMP port to 587 and other settings, but it prompted this. messageUsing Q10 for Email Only (via Wifi) without Sim Card-image-1.jpg

Maybe I should try it with SIM card inside

How did you add the account? I just did it on my Q10. I entered Settings > Accounts > Add Account (the Blue button), entered my gmail address, and it walked me through the two-factor verification seamlessly. Everything works perfectly (sending and instant delivery), and when I checked my settings, they are exactly the same as yours.

Have you checked your gmail account (through your browser) to see if the settings permit IMAP? The two-factor verification will be somewhere in your account settings (maybe the overall google account settings).

With my SIM card in my Q10, I deleted the Gmail account to start from scratch. I successfully enabled the 2FA through my PC and it went through my Q10 when adding the account. Only thing I configured in the settings was the "Sync Interval" option from 30 mins to 5 mins.

    - With the sim card out and Wifi on, I checked to see if an email i sent to myself (via PC) would show up on my Q10; nothing appeared.

    - Also i went to the browser on my Q10, Google homepage would not even load.

First issue that I can tell from your screen shot is that you don have blackberry services active (blackberry logo by the wifi symbol) maybe do a factor reset?

This is what you need to do, just can't remember where the register network option is from memory, I believed it's under the about screen in settings

You may need to go in to BlackBerry World and sign in with your BBID and password to get the BB services icon up there with the wifi icon.

Thanks for the response guys ! So everything seems to be up and running, after 2 days of keeping the phone idle. I did not configure any of the settings after what was recommended. It seems that the BB services needed downtime to register the settings I had changed. Sent a dummy email to myself and received it on my BB. also the browser works as I was able to load this forum page. Once again thanks

Alrighty, so there is another issue. The BB dots will disappear after a certain time (let's say an hour), ceasing the phone to be functional of any Wi-fi use. The BB dots won't show unless i restart the phone. And when that is achieved it will show and then disappear. SOS !
