I have read where you are better off paying more for a factory unlocked phone. I just read a few minutes ago that it you purchase a factory unlocked phone to use on AT&T you may not have access to all the bands and may miss out on a few LTE bands. Where I live we only have AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and US Celluar. I'm moving over to AT&T because it seems they support BB better than Verizon. And yes, I realize the factory unlocked will probably cost more.

I just purchased a SE Passport (unlocked) but heres I have a choice as to whether I purchase a Classic from AT&T or get a factory unlocked one. Any suggestions or advice? Am I limiting my potential cell service on AT&T if I purchase a factory unlocked Classic?

    Thanks!

Either way, you appear prepared to go with what you read from people you don't know. How many opinions are you prepared to read before making 'your' decision?

    As many as it takes...

I'm not interested in opinions. Just trying to get the facts.

But is it true that an unlocked GSM will not have all the AT&T bands on it?

This is the statement I read in another post. I've copied and here it is:

    3) The AT&T Classic allows wireless charging while the ShopBB version does not. The radio bands are slightly different, too. Thus, you may not get LTE in all areas if you pop an AT&T sim into a factory unlocked phone.

Is this true and in reality, will it affect my signal?

@gebo, I think that you should make sure that you buy the right model.

My version is the SQC100-2, which is AT&T's international model.
    The bands it has are:
    UMTS: 1,2,5,6
    LTE: 1,2,3,4,5,7,17,20

Check out the the carrier/frequency listing in this thread:http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...encies-977803/

Here in Aus I can download directly the OS and updates from Blackberry or through BB Link, but you will obviously be restricted to the AT&T updates if you have their sim installed.
