Been using my Q5 since 9 months, since 3 days ago it stopped working the bbm logo in the status bar disappears a few seconds after i plug in my sim card (tried both du and Etisalat)

Did security wipe and software reload from BB Link, still the same.

Once I remove the sim card, the bbm logo appears and it starts to work.

Nework, Network Subset, and Service Provider are all "Unlocked"

Another thing the company logo "etisalat" shows up on boot for the first time since I bought the phone.

Anyone can confirm this or help in diagnosing the problem?

EDIT: FIXED : seems few sys.data.ecid** are causing it, the apps show up after uninstalling them but it still works.

Did you recently update it? Sometimes those "maintenance releases" are chock full of carrier bs. Thats one of the reasons I never do the minor updates, unless I know an issue I'm having will be addressed.

Any way, its odd that it ever worked for you. My cousin got a Q10 basically the first week it was available in Dubai and he's never been able to use bbm video/voice on wifi or on mobile network. Etisalat completely blocked it..

You might try calling your network customer care on the issue.
It might be related to the settings. They have no right to block you as long as you make payments.
I don't use your network but I also have my carrier logo displaying on boot up since 10.2.0.

So give them that call and ask what is going on.

EDIT: I learnt BBM is not official in Dubai. Don't know if this is true. But if it is, then there you have it. Answer to your issue.

The thing is that i never paid subscription for bbm, always been using my wifi connection. (since 9 months)

It still works on the android bbm sideload on dev os 10.3.0.700

I live in dubai, Bbm isn't blocked, unfortunately the voice and video calling are. When bb10 cane out they said they were in talk about lifting it but that never happened. Perhaps your etisalat account is for bb7 or something like that. Or maybe u need an new sim card

Are you subscribed to any packages ? if yes, turn off Data Services and see if you can still use bbm over wifi.

BBM IS WORKING on data for me ( i subscribed on daily package because i thought my phone had some software glitch.) But for first time it does not work on wifi. I also tried with my Du sim card and the same problem is there.

I have both but du is plugged in most of the time because i cant take my Q5 to work field and my du line is social line.

Bbm video and voice has been blocked ever since it was launched. It doesn't even make sense as skype, line and other apps are freely available to use out here in UAE.
Anyways, as for ur situation, one thing I found was that Bbm video and voice works over WIFI in free zone areas like DIP, DIC etc but doesn't work in non-freezone areas. Again this has to do with the fact that most stuff on the Internet is not policed in the free zone areas except for porn or religious/community hatred material.
