1) Will new BB10 phones be able to generate a WiFi hotspot?
2) (Stupid question) I assume they will be 4G capable?
hotspot has not been confirmed yet, but if BlackBerry OS7 can do it, i am assuming that BB10 could.
Yes it will, just have to remember there is two versions of 4G. LTE is the newest and faster one.
Also consider if you're Canadian or American. Americans will have to pay more for that feature.
1) Will new BB10 phones be able to generate a WiFi hotspot?
Yes, I have a Dev Alpha and can confirm mobile hotspot is available.
2) (Stupid question) I assume they will be 4G capable?
Yes, RIM has confirmed 4G will be available.
Good to know I have never checked my Dev Alpha if it had it, I just assumed they did not put it in since it is a WiFi only lol maybe I should check if there is anything else I over looked lol
Did you get tethering normal tethering to work between DevAlpha and PlayBook? Doesn't seem to work for me.
As long as the carrier has it enabled for you, phone is completely capable of hot spot.
Just remember to be cautious of your data plan when sharing via hotspot

Can't view your attachment for creating mobile hotspot. How do we create one? Thank you.
Settings> network connections> mobile hotspot turn on and configure.
CB10- z10
STL100-3 version has 4G for Tmobile and ATT
What do you mean it is WiFi only? Your assumptions are dangerous and border on laziness in regards for a lack of basic research. I expect better from anyone whom qualified for a BlackBerry Dev Alpha.

The option is there, but every time I try to turn it on it automatically switches back to the off state.
And carriers here in Austria normally don't put arbitrary limits on data usage as long as we don't pass the fair use policy of the contract - mobile hotspot works fine on my older Symbian phones.
