When you try to install Pokemon Go on devices below 4.4, the device says "parse error there was a problem parsing the package", but there is a simple fix that allow you to install Pokemon Go below 4.4. I tested Pokemon Go on my tablet running Android 4.2.2 and it is well playable.

So let's get started.

Before you start modding, try to sideload the app first. If the device tells you that it has parse error, modify the apk or download the apk

1. Download any apktool.

2. Take your framework-res.apk from /system/framework and install it via apktool

3. Decompile the APK file

4. Open androidmanifest.xml with Notepad++

5. add the tag in androidmanifest.xml. If it does not work, add targetSdkVersion tag like this . SDK 14 is Android 4.0.4 and SDK 23 is Android 6.0.1. You can read more at https://developer.android.com/guide/...k-element.html

6. Re-compile the APK and sign the apk

If you want Google login to work, replace the original META-INF in modded APK, but the device needs to be rooted with disabled signature check by Lucky Patcher.

Unsigned APK might be installable on Android 4.0 without root, since it has a security bug, but i'm unsure.

If you want to check my APK for virus, compare the codes between original and modded using Code Compare software and you will see that there are no changes in smali files.
NOTE:
The game does run but somehow we can't login (PTC unable to authenticate, GOOGLE infinite scroll)
And it doesn't detect GPS but I believe this is a good start.
