I had received this in my Hub's notifications tray this morning, GMT.

It's great to see these features are now free, as I enjoyed them when they were initially launched as trial. At the time,many refused to update their BBM to keep them free.

Is this to make BBM more of an attractive client in the light of WhatsApp pulling support at the end of the year?

It's been free of charge for a while now, I guess it's a nice addition to make it free, but the easy to use phonenumber(WA) over PIN(BBM) makes it less user friendly IMHO for adding contacts. I think that's still an issue
