    Morning,

Does anyone else get '?' in a diamond shape when receiving text from WP, iOS or Android device.

Swear it used to work, now all I get is a stupid '?' mark.

    Photo attached.

Yes our phones don't understand the same emoticons.

Thought the simple ones would come through.

There should be an industry STD :-)

Emoji are pretty much industry standard for everybody except BlackBerry.

Simple text-based emoticons are supported. They are actually better supported than on iOS. At least the iOS on my wife's iPhone 4 (probably still on iOS 5).

When we text back and forth, her iPhone still showed the text based smiley, the actual colon punctuation followed by the closed paragraph symbol. Whereas on my Z10, I get the smiley graphic.

However, just last week, she discovered how to get emojis on her phone as she was getting weird symbols in texts from her best friend who used them. Now, my wife has emojis and can see what her friend sends her, but now I get the double diamond shapes with question marks in them when she adds emojis to texts she sends me.

I think with emojis, anything that would normally be the text-based emoticon gets replaced with the emoji graphic if they are installed on the senders phone. That's why our BBs get the diamond question marks on our end even if the original input was the colon/paragraph symbol.

I don't know if the SMS thing gets in the way since the emoji would be a graphic and any graphic image would normally turn the text into an MMS message.

BlackBerry haven't added system wide emoji support.
I think it's coming though with 10.3 possibly since they've actually added emoji support to the latest Facebook update.
Hopefully we get it soon, I know it's a bit of silly social thing but to really get a broader adoption of the BB10 platform these little things add up.
