    Hi all,

I just received an actual fax (like a PDF) in my Hub. At first the number called and called leaving only beeps as would be expected, but then a special VVM icon with a page on it appeared, and low and behold, I received an actual fax (see screenshot).

BerryReview, by coincidence, discovered this too yesterday and posted an article on it...

This seems to be a T-Mobile feature, at least currently.

BTW, be a good samaritan(sp?) always. The fax I received was in error. It was unfortunately a poor woman's prescriptions. I called the sending pharmacy, then the lady herself to inform her, and the physician, so it could be resolved ASAP.

Yeah. This is an old service. Nothing new. Wonder why the craziness now.
You just have to cell Magenta and have it activated.... It's called FaxMail....
Here's an 11 year old link describing it.

VVM wasn't around 11 years ago. Therefore, this is, at least partially, new.

    But voice mail was...
It's the visual voicemail feature that is new. Not the fax service.
Did you even read the link???
This is a feature that allows callers to send faxes to your mobile phone. The fax would be routed to your voicemail box as fax mail.

Here is a link from right here on the CB forums from 7 years ago as well...
It comes up with a simple search for "T-Mobile FaxMail"

What's new is that you can open the fax as a PDF-type document right from your VVM screen. You're telling me that you could do this 7-11 years ago? (lol)

Actually, what you could do in past times is have the fax data stored in your voice mail box, and then send it to a fax machine for printing at your convenience. Now again, what is new here (or at least new enough to require coverage on this) is the fact that you can open a fax document right from your visual voice mail GUI without having to forward to a real fax machine for printing.

I'm really surprised I couldn't find anything on this online. Yes, I found that legacy service you mentioned, but as I've detailed, this is a major improvement on that, and deserves mention in its own right...

Thanks for the post OP. I had no clue on the older feature of receiving faxes. This is pretty cool. The fact the VVM will also simply show it as an attachment is pretty cool.

Comes through as Tiff, not PDF. Can't share a Tiff with HP ePrint.

I had No idea about this WOW
If it's 11old technology I don't care, I had No idea it existed so I'm surprised.
Funny since the other day I needed to receive a fax asap and I had to rely on someone for it. Now I know next time.

Question ; is it a free service? I never seen it in the plan section in tmo

It's free for me. I'm not sure. Just went into the settings for VVM in the hub and turned it on. Didn't know I had it,.

Does not work on my Verizon z10. Sucks, I think Blackberry's being geared towards business should not only be able to receive and view faxes, but also send documents and photos as faxes. Would be a feature no one else has.
