Wow august, that's earlier than I would have expected...

In my experience over the years, the carriers set these dates in anticipation based upon really old information. In all reality, these dates more reflect when the carriers are prepared to sell the devices.

that means they would have a working device to test on their network right now basically. And we know what state the "alpha" devices are at right now is not a complete phone.

I work at T-Mobile and while I'm in no position to validate this rumor, everyone I work with knows how big of a Blackberry nerd I am, and if it's even whispered, I'll hear it.
That being said, I agree, August is a wee bit too soon for my liking given the current state of the OS on the Dev Alpha devices. - 05-02-2012, 05:44 PM #12

Update now found at the bottom of the page:
Editors' note (updated May 2, 2012, at 3 p.m.): According to a T-Mobile representative, the carrier stated that it has "not made any announcements with regards to future T-Mobile BlackBerry devices." - 05-02-2012, 06:05 PM #14
I would guess November personally.

I can't see it happening by august, I mean they don't even have the final bb10 os yet and if it was coming that quick the carriers would already be testing the phones. I wouldn't expect anything before oct at the earliest.

Just throwing this out there...the current state of the OS on the Dev Alpha device is NOT even BB10...its running a modified version of PlayBook OS...that being said, no one even knows how much or little RIM has done in terms of the BB10 OS...they showed off some features, but they may have the majority of the UI done and are tinkering with the little things now for all we know...August sounds early...but RIM is being very tight-lipped about their OS and hardware, and they may surprise everyone with an earlier than expected release!

Unboxing videos of Dev Alpha units show an AT&T sim card for testing, so AT&T is definitely a Carrier offering support to BBOS 10.

TMo would probably the carrier that could release the quickest on because they won't have LTE until 2013. Since the Dev Alpha's have HSPA+, they are good to go on TMo. Also TMo is refarming theri spectrum so they will have HSPA in the 1900 MHz band to be compatible with AT&T phones. I'm still doubtful of August, but could see Tmo being the first.

Lets say it was going to be released in August. Wouldn't T-Mobile be getting the test devices in June? Three months before release.
Maybe they meant they were going to get BB10 devices in August to start testing. I'm assuming that's what they mean by "prepared" for BB10.
Which makes sense, because it's not supposed to be released until October or November. - 05-02-2012, 08:36 PM #23I Stand By BlackBerry!

I'm not getting too exicted at all until the date it's officially announced and released to all carrier stores. Then, I'll be going there to test it out first thing!
