I was wondering if there is an option to unlock the screen by just pressing the top button, WITHOUT swiping up?

Nope..as far as i know. Top button will "wake up" the phone and then you have to swipe up to get into the OS / whatever you were last doing! Cheers.

Yes there is. It's in settings. Go to display and turn off "Allow gestures when Locked"

Sorry, I misunderstood. What you're asking for isn't present in most OS's (not ios, not WP for a reason. The lock screen provides "At a glance" information, and so having it is beneficial. Though an option would be nice for people that don't want that. To be honest, in my previous phone, which a was an Android, I looked everywhere for an option to have the lock screen come up so I can just see the datetime quickly, but that option isn't there. It only shows the lock screen when the as sword time sets in. I hated that, but I guess to each their own.

But to unlock it u still have to press the button at the top and a wide up from the bottom

Use a magnetic pouch, that bypasses the lock screen so when you take the phone out you're straight to home screen.
