I was just modifying my contact list on my Z10, I was having about 390 contacts.

After finishing I am now seeing that automatically double entries have been made by the phone itself.
Attached is the screen shot.

I am highly irritated of this BlackBerry os 10.
There are so many errors in this Os, I have wasted my money buying a BlackBerry

BlackBerry has correct market share of 0
5 percent.
People buying apple are not fools,they get value, and here you will get this irritating Os 10.

You have different sources for contacts, sim,googe,facebook,linked in, twitter.
Depending on how set up they will automatically link or not.
Found this confusing at first either me not understanding or os10.1
Never had any problem like this for over 12 months since been on 10.2.

Calm down. You have to make sure you don't have multiple contact accounts all syncing and causing duplicates.

If you tap on the icon on the lower left, it should show you which accounts are being shown. You can disable the ones you done need by swiping down from the top and going into Settings.

Thank you for sharing and informing us! Do a search on CB on dup-contacts- there should be a fix for it. BTW- I also have a BB10 OS and I don't think I wasted my money. I am actually getting my money's worth!

OP go into the contacts app, swipe down from the top, go to settings, scroll down till you see "show account in contacts list" and turn EVERYTHING OFF. That should solve your problem.

Or people that don't have time to tinker around, troubleshoot, and baby their devices. I'm not putting anyone down,.. just admitting that there are those that will gladly sacrifice some flexibility in the name of "it just works."

You duplicated your contacts when you saved them. You need to always select one location to save your contacts, otherwise they will get saved on all locations.

since 10.3 i dont have this error although i never knew where i can find this menu. can you guide me to it please

I don't have Fb, Twitter or anything installed on my Z10, I just keep my phone basic.

One drive? No log on to your hotmail and check under contacts.

I've had this problem before too. On the phone it shows duplicates, on hotmail/outlook.com it does not.

I would first make sure all the contacts actually are in my outlook/hotmail account, then delete the account from settings/accounts. Then delete any contact still showing up on the device. Once they're all gone, re-add the outlook/hotmail account, and wait for contacts to populate.

However, if all your contacts are stored locally,.. download an app called ContactX. The app automatically detects duplicates and merges any slight differences, allows you to make a backup and restore. It's how I cleaned up my disastrous contact list back when I first got my original Z10 on an early 10.1 build.

Thanks for the suggestion, done that, and now dont have the duplicate contacts.

But one missing thing which I found in Os10, which was there in Os7, was that the company name written for a contact also comes when person calls u, which is very imp.

I have aligned all my contacts like this, and I find it little difficult when I get a call to recall the company name.

It shows the company name on 10.3 so you just have to wait until 10.3.1 is released for our devices.
