Why do the pictures for Picture Password get squished down wrecking the image? It's really sad that they released it with a big flaw.

Like the whole point is the picture and it's not even going to be correct.

Used a pic of a snowflake (if might not be noticeable. But you can see how the image is pushed downward, instead of being cropped with the same aspect ratio.

Is there a specific size it's supposed to be?

If it does that could be the reason.

Okay I found a fix. If you crop a picture before and then save it. You can use the newly already cropped picture for the password without it being distorted.

If you crop the picture while setting up the password the image will get distorted

Hmm. I never noticed that. I guess because I was using the default pictures so they were sized properly.

The default images are also cropped & squished.
You can only crop images to the screen-size ratio (1:1 on my Q10, not sure about the Z) to use for Picture Password. But the unlock screen is not that size, because of the 'cancel/emergency' call top bar. That is why the image ends up being squished down.

Hmm maybe I just didn't notice the distortion because the screen is longer. They should definitely get it fixed though. An easy update to make the top bar overlay the picture rather than distort it

Yes why does it take into account the emergency bar at the top? It squashes the pic into the room underneath, the emergency bar should just overlap the pic. Mine is a pic of someone, and they look like an oompa loompa in the pic password

For what it's worth, the Picture Password images still get squished because of that top bar (and it always saves the image a [name]_edit, even if the image is already the right size, no idea why).
Here is how to get a PP image that ends up the right size (for Q10/5):
    - start with whatever image you want at 1:1, resize to 720x720 pixels if necessary.
    - then resize to 720x828 (changing the height!)
    - crop image starting at bottom, back to 720x720 (this can be done during PP set up).

Now you have what looks like a distorted image, but when set as Picture Password it will actually be the right size! Note that this is a ridiculous workaround, but if you want your picture to end up at the right dimensions this looks to be the only way. I hope they fix that overlay issue at some point.
