Uhh...I think some people are getting confused here. You can compose an email and go back to view another email. You simply hit save, and you're back in the hub. That's how every OS does it so that if something happens to your phone, what you've written so far is still saved as a draft in your email. In a future update, I'd like to see it save as a draft automatically as soon as you swipe back into the hub.

Also, this won't even be necessary for most occasions, because all you have to do is swipe to the right while composing an email, and you can peak at your hub. That should be enough for most people.

Relax. Android and iOS can't do this either
Looks like you never used that PlayBook native email feature. It's so much easier than "back, save, hunt for relevant email, open that email, close email, hunt back to your saved copy, open it, move to where you were and start typing again" which you have to repeat when you want to reference more than one email.

You're comparing a tablet to a phone. No phone on the market has a list of all emails on the side while you are viewing an email. There isn't enough screen real estate. Go compare WP, iOS, and Android mail apps on phone vs. tablet -.-

    You can still do this.
From any app, select share, select email, delete the unwanted content from the app if any, compose and send your email as usual.

From the email composition screen, you can swipe up and over to get to the hub, where you can read other email Or even compose another email at the same time.

Swipe up, select the app and you're back in the compose view of your first email.

Extend this technique as need arises.

But I agree, it should be easier to do this directly in the hub.

Following that logic, the browser doesn't have enough screen real estate to have multiple tabs. Fail.

And to those that says BB7 had time to mature and to give BB10 OS time, that's not even relevant! We're talking PLAYBOOK here, not BB OS! It IS on the PlayBook. True, there are not a single line of code from BB7- OS in BB10 (from what they say) but that's doesn't apply to the PlayBook. The PlayBook OS was the starting foundation for the BB10 OS.
You are right about the PB OS being the foundation for BB10 OS, but the mail app is not part of the OS. The PB uses AIR for most apps and BB10 uses Cascades

You really don't get it. On the PlayBook, you swipe down from the top bezel, select the email list from the tabs (which also has a tab for the email you're composing) and it REPLACES on screen the currently being composed email. Once you swipe down again, you simply reselect the tab for the email you were composing and you're exactly where you left of.

Finally and answer that makes sense. Thank you. Hopefully they'll add it back.
