I'm irritated (and please don't talk about anti-BB, I'm totally into BB10) but current notifications settings can be tweaked a bit more. I want max volume for incoming phone calls, and I get that perfectly - but in the same time I get uber high tone for new mail/sms/notification etc which in unexpected situations is damn scary Just for the sake of argument, my 5yrs old non-smartphone, with uber crap "non-os" have separate volume sliders for both calls, messages and other notifications.

I don't have the Z10 yet, but downloaded the user manual to get a better idea of features and how it is going to be different than OS 7.
With that said, have you checked the notification settings in each app? Ie for phone, email, BBM, sms texts
From the pdf manual Page 95:

Nothing stopping you having some loud tracks and some quiet ones and setting each to be used on different contacts or notifications....If it's really the end of the world..

The main thing is to keep complaining about it. That way BlackBerry will hear you and fix the problem

One option is to use a program like Audacity.
    • Import a notification sound. Save three or so copies with various volume levels and names "Example 1 - Low", "Example 1 - Medium", etc.
    • Load sounds onto device
    • Set various notifications with the appropriate tone.

It's certainly not ideal, but it's one method...

that doesn't fix the main problem - you cannot set different sounds for different mailboxes.

edit: sorry - wrong thread.. this does fix the OPs problem by the sound of it

Patience people, remember this is a brand new platform, you can't just compare it with BBOS.

There will be layers and layers of functionality added as it progresses.

Right now I am enjoying the ability to set up all sounds volumes in one easy slide bar.
