From what I understand, it will only search first name, last name and company.

Same here. Finds any word starting with the letter b in any of those 3 areas.

Not sure what the OP is seeing?

Nothing as u can see!!

Does not matter what letter. Was seaching "mom" nothing, yet when I scroll down the contacts list it's there

I have to enter at least 3 letters on my Z10 before it starts to narrow down. Whatever the first letter pushed it starts at the A's and after 3 will give decent results. Mine has always been that way so I just assumed that's the way it was designed to work.

Passport running official os... should I co into settings, accounts, Gmail email and delete then re add?

Maybe do a hub reset first. That may help. The multi finger swipe on an angle from the top of the screen while in the hub.

Doesn't do anything.. I deleted Gmail contacts from account and re added but same problem... search does not work in Contacts.

Did you see your contacts without trying to use the search function ?

In the contacts' app settings, all is checked under "Show Account In Contact List" ?

Did you see there the account where your contacts are stored ?

Did you find "Mom" by using the Universal Search ?

Contacts are there. Universal search does not search properly...

I guess you can start by doing a reset (you data won't be lost). Just keep pressing both the volume up and down rockers until the BlackBerry logo is displayed.

This certainly is strange.

So you've deleted all accounts that uses contacts then rebooted the phone (volume keys press thing). Then reinstalled the email account again and it still search within contacts does not do anything?

What if you use the assistant? That's what I use for all type of search and it's working very well.

Still no luck.. I will wait for the OS 10.3.1 rollout on the Passport... hopefully that search function will work under Contacts then..
