Could someone explain the logic/use behind the running apps screen to the left of the main menu? Are we supposed to constantly close the running apps or is it there for easier access to them? does leaving many apps running use up more battery?

It really depends on the app. If it's an app that updates yes, but if not then no. I keep 2-4 apps running all the time, but they're the ones I use the most so it would take more battery to constantly boot them.

You can also keep an application running while you do something else, like checking facts on the web that you want to use in a CB post you're working on. You can't save an incomplete post, but you can put CB into the background.
