(RUMOR] BB10 Beta Testing
Speaking of rumors... Just came back from a phone store (will remain unnamed) because my son's old Bold 9000 just died and he wants an HTC Android while i'm trying to convince him to stick it out for BB10. I'm telling this to the rep who then tells me he has a friend who works at RIM Beta Testing BB10 and he saw them. He said he saw a keyboard less RIM phone and another with a physical keyboard and he got to play with them. Likes it and says it somewhat similar to Android?!? It was still buggy. Also said Skype is coming for Playbook
For what its worth, I dont know the guy and he was pushing us toward Android. So its a guy who knows a guy who's telling a guy... story.Thanked by:genericscissors2 (04-16-2012)

Certainly there is some RIM testing going on BUT the big question is has carrier testing started. And the Skype rumor is new.

I have 2 friends that work at RIM and I cannot pry anything from them. They tell me that the campus is broken up by division and they don't get to see/ hear much.
I will likely get to see it once 1 of them gets to take it for real world testing. I know they get new models for testing as I see them with unreleased software versions and not for NA phones. Also 1 had half a dozen PB for months before release testing software, so we are not talking floor sweepers.
I think the likelihood of some random guy in a random phone store is perpetuating a story he half heard.

That's like stating the obvious. Good lord that was said when they "cancelled" Milan. Failure to read between the lines.
http://crackberry.com/blackberry-milan-scrapped-due-hardware-concerns
"Aside from all of that, RIM has a history of scrapping one hardware design idea only to bring it back looking better then it did the first time around. Don't be surprised if you see a device similar in design arrive from RIM in 2012. "Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense. You're just not keeping up.

RIM is in no position to show things off before their time, they did so in the past at the beckon of consumers and it bit them in the arse. You'll hear nothing about BB10 until they are good and darn well ready for you to hear it.
Leaks.. even if / when they appear should be taken lightly as RIM is onto the game and is taking extra measures to ensure there is confusion about what is real and what is not. Could people have seen prerelease BB10 devices out there? Most def. Could they have been floated those devices on purpose to cause mixed rumors? Indeed.Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense. You're just not keeping up.

Everyone at crackberry knows it. The BB10 will comes with a full touch screen and one with a keyboard. You dont need a friend at RIM to know it or a RIM's sales rep. You just need to be at Crackberry.com more often. The news is no longer secret...
As for Skype on Playbook, someday, they will have it. Some day.. I don't know when but someday. Its very obvious.
As for BB10 still buggy, its obvious also.
So very sorry but that REP is quoting the obvious. Its like me telling the world that BB10 will be released somewhere late this year or early next year.. Its obvious!!

I also know a lot of people working at RIM. Their NDA must be very tight since they won't say much.
But the impression I get is... Just you wait and see. - 04-16-2012, 06:53 AM

Well, I did post this in a forum called rumours. I also did state it was a rumour from an unreliable source.
Take it for what it is. As someone else said, nothing is surprising here. Companies beta test their stuff and the 2 form factors mentioned was already talked about in CB.
Wether it is true or not we,ll have to wait - 04-16-2012, 06:59 AM #24
