I wonder why BlackBerry bother to include some icons when it is built in at the home screen and hot key. Some of the icons are

    - phone
    - camera
    - voice control
    - search
    - setting

    What do you think?

My best guess is that because they are actual apps they have to have a launchable icon on the home screen.

    I totally agree with you.

I'd also include Text Messages, Help, and Setup.

They don't need their own icon, what other OS has Setup and Help always on the home screen?

I put all of those in my SIDU folder.
    (Stuff I Don't Use)

There's a ton of others too that I put in another folder I call system.

    Help, adobe reader,box,drop box .

I do use box and drop box, however I access those from file manager thus job need for extra icons cluttering up my app drawer.

Box and dropbox is only one time use. After that you access the file via the File Manager. So it is also redundant and can be part of setup like the OS7 setup.

We should have an option to hide these redundant icons. It would be very logical way of doing it. Hopefully it will come in future updates

They had that feature on on legacy devices. You held the track wheel over the icon and clicked hide.

I remember one Os I had that you couldn't unhide them. Hahaha
Pretty sure I switched devices before it got updated .

The icons may also be present to reduce confusion for those switching from other platforms (even though a few of them are accessible via shortcuts at the bottom of the launcher at any given time).

No. They didn't have Search icon before, they actually added the icon in 10.1. Methinks it's for the old timeys who have a hard time using the shortcuts and prefer the good old reliable icons

I get confused when there are ten ways to access a given function. Simplicity is key to perfecting this os, Imo. It's almost there, save for phone/contacts and a few other things (like stupid game system app)

I think they should just hold in Dropbox and box into accounts from settings!
