Ok, so i had the same issue on my iphone before i got this Z10. I deleted a contact by mistake. This contact was linked to facebook. I have re added this contact in my address book including facebook info but it will now never retrieve the facebook info and add it into his contact info. ie: friends count, and i can no longer click his facebook name in my address book to go directly to his facebook profile. Its not only the one contact, any contact deleted and re-added in my phone address book will never re-established a connection to their facebook profile.

Anyone have a cure for this?

I guess i figured it out, i removed my facebook account and re added it. All links were restored.

Linking contacts is driving me INSANE!!!!

I like the idea but its messing up the names of my gmail(main) contacts display on my device. Ive been linking my gmail contacts with FB and BBM and for some reason my gmail contact keeps gets auto renamed with the BBM name. this is only ok if the user has the exact same name on BBM, but as soon as they changed it to wierd funky characters in BBM I can no longer find them in my address book...argggggghhhhh..

ex. if I have a contact in gmail "John Smith" and for some reason he changes his BBM name to "Dragon" without my knowledge I can no longer find him...

Any help advice would be great.

Surprised not too many responses on this. Either no one uses linking or no realizes it to be an issue

I've read about this problem in other posts in the z10 forum. Ppl are getting address book contacts replaced by their Facebook name like how urs is with BBM

I opted to not show Facebook contacts and not link them haha

Sorry i havent had this issue and i have all my contacts are linked between BBM, facebook, twitter, gmail, hotmail and Linkedin. Ive never had issues with this. Ive had my Z10 since the 5th.

You have 2 options:

1) Unlink your BBM contact from your gmail contact
or
2) Rename your BBM contact

I'm guessing those tips might help, but I can't tell for sure as my contacts are linked to Facebook, Twitter, BBM, etc. and I've never encountered this issue.

You won't have the problem if the name is the same across all accounts. I am also very nitpicky when it comes to organizing my contacts.

My work around is:
1: unlink the issue contacts
2: open the Gmail contact and link all other contacts
3: doing the linking from the Gmail contact itself ensures it stays at the top of the links list. Then if the BBM name or fb name changes i will still have the name of the Gmail contact in my contacts phone book.

A bit of a challenge that I would like to see improvements but I got it working the way I want right now. Doesn't sound too difficult but when linking hundreds of contacts it becomes very time consuming.

I don't think most people have figured all of this out even now. Some yes some no. Some it's probably not a big issue.

Once you figure it out you can manage it by linking contacts and ....... Unlink and delete a contact to remove an unwanted contact Link.

The big problem to me is ........ most people don't realize that every time they add a contact it is saving and syncing with every account that they sync contacts with + Local + SIM.
-- Local
-- SIM
-- @email1
-- @email 2
etc.

Not a big problem for those storing all contacts on device (Local or SIM). But a huge problem down the road for those that are sync'ing with maybe work contact list and personal contact list. 6-12 months down the road their work and personal contacts will be in shambles.

1 - A default contact account is needed
2 - Also the ability to add/delete account links when editting a contact.
This will should help resolve the matter and allow for much better contact management.

Ask this same question a few weeks ago and couldn't get a real answer...

Z10 Contacts HELP!!!!

Even when the linking of the contact is initiated from the local contact either the bbm or fb profile name over writes the local contact display name and you can no longer search for that particular contact under the display name you saved it under initially... Very Frustrating!
