I was wondering what option saves more battery.

    Push or Sync Interval?

I have two Hotmail accounts set up.

Push is best, but not all mail servers support it.

This article suggests otherwise. I can't tell the difference as I tried both ways.

Corporate email: using EAS with push

Personal: IMAP with push off and manual sync.

Push will always be more efficient, as the device will only open a connection to then mail server when a new email is being pushed the device. With sync the device checks for new email at set intervals (IE 15 minutes) regardless if there are new emails on the server.

As I said, it depends on the mail server. I have some IMAP mail servers that allow me to enable push in my account settings and I have some IMAP Email that have the option disabled.

It also doesn't seem to be a email provider option because one of my accounts has now allowed the setting change. Before it was disabled.

    BIS push saves battery life.
    Imap idle push doesn't.
Sync also saves battery life during the day but it also uses unnecessary battery life when you're sleeping
