Ok I'm not planning to do this regular but if I find a small simple app in bar file format. (thats a BlackBerry format, right)
I could then download a side load app loader and use that.
But I don't want to do that, well once at least -
Just for once I'd like to do it manually.
I can open a bar file and see all the files in it.
I don't want to mess with the files or work out what each one does I just want to understand what happens when a bar is installed. Where the files go and what happens. Like is there some instruction file that says create this directory put qml files here like that and your gifs here et al?
This might also help me to see when I uninstall an app if its uninstalled correctly.
If this is not possible then I'd like to know why its not possible?

Interesting question. I know you can't de-compile a bar file, so I'm thinking the extension just loads the bar file through an API. (just my assumption, I could be wrong)

someone with more knowledge might be able to give a definite answer. I'd be interested in knowing as well.

You can rename a .bar file to.rar and open it. See a few executables, some xml description and a load of. qml files that are not compiled.
At the moment the few. Bar files I installed I used the BlackBerry chrome extension which is a method I'm reasonably happy with. Happier than with some of the other methods.
I might try writing my own little app to see what I get from it?
