Why isn't there the Pin to Pin messaging protocol on BlackBerry 10 OS? I do not mean BBM.

It's something that's been discussed over the past month. Word is people are trying to get BlackBerry to code it back in on the next update, but who knows if we will ever see it on BB 10. They probably got rid of it because not enough people use it or are even aware of it.

Only able to receive pin on z10. For some stupid reason. No option to respond or create new. Stupid if you ask me hopefully they will add the feature and make a lit of us happy...

I never understood why someone would use pin to pin as opposed to bbm. Aren't they the same?. Or isn't pin to pin the same as texting?

Pin to pin was amazing before bbm and for the days txt messaging costed to much. Now a days i dont see why anyone would want it.

Too many universal communication tools that are used, pin to pin is outdated.

For example, my friend has a data plan that does not support BBM and does not have unlimited texting but, she uses Pin to Pin because it only requires data (I think)

or you have a conversation with some one 2 years ago via pin, than you have it always in your inbox... or you don't want to bbm chatting with some clients...
you can save them on your device send them forward to other people etc...

You can send someone a message without them having to accept you on BBM. BBM is personal you might not want people that you are pining to see your BBM profile if it is a business related message.

From what I've read in the past, it has contained some problems they've had to patch, id think they may have thought it was safer to remove it. You used to be able to add numbers to text from bbm I haven't tried yet but if it works why not pins? It's worth a shot.

I don't get it either. In addition to BBM, there are tons of IM networks out there you can use for free for nothing other than data charges. I use an IM client on my older BB that supports a half dozen different ones in one app.

Why not use email in that situation? Surely, email is an accepted (professional) business communication method.

I always used it to send a larger message where I did not expect a reply.

I.e. Not a conversation. Just an informational item. Say a quick grocery list.

Email is great but with pin there is no excuse for people. When you send it you know they got it. The security of a pgp blackberry is second to none. I don't want to argue or fight with anyone. But it's not a solvable problem for me by using alternative messaging. I've been using pin since the rim two way pagers and it's just the way me and my business partners prefer to communicate. Pin to Pin and BBM is what separates blackberry from the others. If losing pin forces me to communicate in one of they other ways it really doesn't force me to use a blackberry and gives me the option to try other devices. However having said that I know that I will probably never buy another phone besides a blackberry because it's all I ever used since they out as a phone.

Os 10 rocks and my z-10 does also l! Hurry up q-10 lol...

BBM is the same as pin to pin.

You open BBM. Pick a contact and message him or her. Presto.

and can you find something you send someone 2 years ago ? search for a individual message you get 4 weeks ago?
i'm not talking about a boring chat with a friend... its about saving or finding information

Don't get me wrong i like BBM for private use but not work...
last backup on my Bold 9900 say's nearly 40,000 saved pins

BBM is not the same as Pin to Pin. You must have the person on your BBM contact list they must accept you or vise versa to send them a message. Now if you have family and friends and personal info on BBM and don't want to share it with Co workers.

Doesn't matter now anyway since you only get 30 days of messages on BB10 (at least for now.) And wow... you have 2 years of messages saved on your BB?!?!

It is, but not function very well... it is ok from Z10 to BB9900, but if I sent from BB9900 to Z10, on Z10 not received the Pin message... and on BB9900 get an error message.
I hope BlackBerry will solve this problem...

This seems to be a fairly uncommon bug although now I know of 4 people who have this problem. Z10 to 9900 works fine (incl BBM voice) but 9900 to Z10 doesn't work.

Can you let me know what version of BBM you have and your OS version too? I have an open ticket with Blackberry on this issue.
