One of my few gripes with the BlackBerry 10.3 OS update is the fact that the phone dialling pad is now white. I preferred the dark setting of the dialling pad in the 10.2 version.

Is there anyway to set the dark theme again?

I have Z-10 STL 100-3 running the 10.3.1.1581 OS version.

Kinda funny how users have been asking for the option to make everything dark.. and instead.. they do the opposite and make the dark elements light with no option to use a dark theme

Mine is set on the dark theme. I believe it was like this right after I installed 10.3.1 on my Z30. Not sure how to you can switch it to the dark theme.

Interesting. My dial pad is dark, in fact my entire phone app is dark. Not sure how or why yet.

This is so easy to explain

LCD screens (z10, Q5, Passport , classic = no dark theme

AMOLED screens (Q10, Z30) = dark theme

I think the reason for white on the lcd screens is that this helps in preserving battery life. The opposite is true for amoled screens.

Thanks for all the postings and comments. Mind you I was just asking because I work a lot of night shifts, and crazy as it may sound, whenever using the phone, especially work related during the shift, the dark dial pad is much appreciated on the eyes.

However this does not mean...that I'll start ranting against the 10.3 OS for this single issue . So far it has more than made the whole wait for it worthwhile. Sure it has a few bugs and kinks work out, but one or two updates should fix that. Just like before... with 10.1 and 10.2!

This is the explanation, technically speaking.

Z30 and Q10 have amoled screens.....so they have a default dark theme. Both my Q10 and Z30 are like that....
