    Hi all,

Quick question: will backing up a Passport device and restoring the data to a Z30 that already has data on it overwrite the existing data?

I want to keep the existing data on the Z30 and supplement it with the Passport data.

Background: lost Z30, had it returned with smashed screen. While waiting on replacement Z30 screen, used borrowed Passport. I now want to restore the data from the Passport such as texts, etc. to the Z30 for a clean transition back.

Is this possible or will my restore of the Passport data overwrite existing Z30 texts and data?

    You can only overwrite.

Also, the Z30 will have to be the same or higher OS. I always use the device switch. Did it 4 times in the past month.

Too bad we cannot merge the data.

True, but to the best of my knowledge, no platform's native restore can do that. Shame you didn't do a device switch when the screen broke. You wouldn't be in this position now.

Yes, good suggestion, BBW. In my case, I did not have the phone for a number of weeks.

However, the loss of data would have been minimized if I had done so when getting it back.

    Good pointer for the archives.
