I am an unlocked Z10 SLT100-2 user on SmarTone network in Hong Kong. My device has been running OS 10.0.10.672 since I bought it (that OS version pops up from 'myver' shortcut, even tough I am sure my phone used to show a version with number '.85' in it - I've always had an issue with this two parallel OS version numbering schemes thing... Why confuse me even more?!?).

Today, after weeks of my moaning about not getting a software update like the rest of the world have, I finally got a Hub notification - 10.1.0.273 is waiting for me to download it. Happy, right?

And then, I went on reading all the threads/post from people having issues with their Z10s after they have updated OS to 10.1.0.273 :-( :-( And I hesitated: should I actually do it? Perhaps it's better to stick to OS 10.0 version that is working for me with no issues?...

Decisions... decisions...

Any hints, pointers, thoughts would be hugely appreciated.

I always recommend on trying the newest update. Ever users experience is different..

Plus half the people on hear just ***** and moan just for the sake of having something to say.

STL100-1 here and I recommend you to stay away, it doesn't bring much and the trade off is huge imo (lag and decreasing battery life)

Do you experience random reboots at this moment? No? Then stick with this until 10.2 comes out.

No, except for rather short battery life, I don't experience any issues running 10.0 at the moment - hence, my hesitation to go 10.1

Also, since sideloading Skype a few weeks back, by Z10 seems complete apps-wise - unless, there are some absolute must-haves out there that only run on 10.1?

Any advocates of upgrading to 10.1.0.273 ? What are the killer improvements/features brought by this release that would my z10 experience better compared to 10.0.10.85 ?

Browser shortcuts
Significantly improved text navigation
Skype
Green color for autocorrect
Improved Maps

And not much else, at least as far as I remember, and my memory isn't too good. I'll dig around my posts when I just updated

Thanks! The list doesn't look impressive enough to risk having all the issues described in gazillion posts from users who have upgraded to 10.1.0.273 ... dropping email account connections being likely the most annoying one...

I'm going to pass on this OS upgrade, methinks

If you don't select texts much or browse long pages on the Internet, you can just pass this one. For me, the browser shortcuts is a significant Quality of Life improvement, so does the text navigation circle, but they're not necessary in any way.

UPDATE: Got another notification today that 10.1.0.273 was again available for my Z10. After gathering all my strength, I've decided to upgrade the OS via Link.

So far so good - all services and apps working as they should. Will give my Z10 a full charge, and report on battery life later.

It's weird that people are talking battery drain with 10.1. Every version I've tried seems to be getting better and better in that regard, from what I had when I started at 10.0.

Happy to report that my Z10 battery behaves waaaay better after updating to 10.1
