When I'm using an app and I want to open a link that the app doesn't support, I usually get the option to open it in a different program. A list usually appears with my options and also with another option to set it as the default program to open those types of links or files. Even when I select something the phone should do, it never sets it as a default. So what is the place of asking if the option doesn't even trigger?

If you long press on a link, Twitter for instance, it'll pop up asking you if you wanna open it in browser or the Twitter app.

    You can use the 'open-in'.

For example an 'http' link in your BlackBerry hub.
You press and hold the link until the context menu opens.
Then you tap 'open-in' and you check 'set as default'
    Then select your preferred application.

It should open all 'http' links with that application the next time you tap it.

That's kind of the problem with many apps I have. When I check "set as default" it doesn't trigger it. It always prompts every single time, even if I check it as a default. For example the "Reddit In Motion" app.

If you use the 'open-in' it'll always give you the list of apps.
But once you actually set it to a default option you should be able to just tap the link and it'll open right away.

Note: some apps do not work with default apps, they simply open stuff In the native browser regardless of your default settings (since they're programmed that way)
