The ability to turn off the gradient behind the apps. I find it completely unnecessary and somewhat ugly on certain backgrounds. The PlayBook didn't need this, why do phones?

I've actually grown to like it, I think the icons look much better then on the playbook and much more uniform when everything is said and done, but I'm also all for giving users choice. if it can be turned on/off with a simple toggle.. why not.

If you like it then it's fine. Just want the choice

When I don't want to see it I just make my background black.

    I second this.
The only reason I use dark wallpapers is because bright ones or pictures look like absolute fecal matter.

    I'd also like battery percentage.

Yeah, these are pretty simple improvements, hope they come soon.

I find when using a "busy" wallpaper, the icon backgrounds make them much easier to see. They also "link" the text to the icon visually.

I know when I look at Android phones, the lack of the icon background and the spacing between the icon and the text makes it difficult to see and gives it a less coherent feel, sort of like everything's floating around without order.
