Don't get me wrong, I love the new features but those new features would be nice with some of the old. Lately I got a bit of a deja vu when looking now at BB10 post-launch. It remembers me a few years back when Microsoft made the transition from Windows Mobile 6.x to Windows Phone 7. Though the loyal Microsoft fans got a fresh, new OS, which was faster, delivered a unique UX, supported the most modern standards and hardware, people weren't completely happy. What happened? Microsoft ditched many smaller or larger features when going from Win Mobile to Win Phone, features the userbase used to have and now they have been taken away from them.
I for one can't understand why we don't get USB-sync with Outlook or any other classic desktop based PIM software. Why the need of reducing the profile system that much? While I agree the existing BBOS profile system was pretty complex, there is no need to remove it like that. Why no color change for LED notification? That has just been introduced to OS7.1 late november last year. Bridge is a vital thing for all Blackberry and Playbook owners, why reduce the featureset for a new OS? I only hope they have just developed a basic version for BB10<->PBOS while saving the "real deal" later for BB10<->PBBB10.
Somehow it feels like BBRY has done quite some steps forward with BB10, however also went a few steps back with that new OS10. After all those delays I can't understand why some of those features are missing. However I am glad they delayed it, I don't wanna know in what kind of state BB10 would've been for the Q3/2012 launch.... | |
