Not getting any OS updates
Hope someone can help me with this. I have had by Z10 from day 1 release in the UK, but I am still on the OS version that came pre-installed and I've got a bad case of update envy. I bought my phone as an unlocked phone from phones4u and cut my current orange UK simple card down to fit the micro sim card slot. I haven't changed my plan from Orange and still have BIS and I still see the BIS symbol on my phone. I am currently running OS 10.0.9.348 and my phone is a STL 100-2. Is anyone else having the same trouble with updating with Orange UK?

I'm not with Orange, but Three. Same issue though sadly, with identical model no and OS to you.
I bought my Z on day one, use my existing unlimited data tariff (not BIS) and all is fine, bar slightly iffy battery life.
Three responded to my tweet yesterday saying that they "Have no Plans" to roll out the update. Massively unimpressed. - 03-03-2013, 03:31 AM #3
Just pop in a Voda phone pay go card for 99p. Update will appear immediately after.
I just did it on Ee. All works fine, even 4G eyx.

Thanks Mike. Appreciated. Gonna try this this morning. No ill effects/Voda bloatware?

I'm with Orange/EE on contract, does the sim trick work with locked phones?
I have spoken with Orange on twitter and got the following:
''Hi! - We have no info at the moment. When an update is available for your device...........''
My mate tweeted 3UK and got the following:
''No info on any software releases for this phone as yet I'm afraid.''
So BlackBerry UK are pushing this aggressively....... I dont doubt that, I do sense a lack of interest or 'do we have to' attitude from the networks. Maybe they will change their minds when the sales figures come out? - 03-03-2013, 07:27 AM #10
Thanks a lot, all done.
Picked up a free Voda sim earlier as suggested by Mike, cut it to micro, and updated straight away.
Simple.

To original OP: you don't need BIS on Z10, it's a waste of 5 a month...

Hi all definitely try the Vodafone sim trick either cut a old regular sim or get a free one online, once prompted for the update let it complete and enjoy..The battery life is absolutely amazing it lasts double the life and the phone is very responsive..

If you buy one from a Tesco (99p) with a phone shop, they should have cutters there, meaning you won't have to bodge it yourself
