I've done a few google searches and looked through the settings--is there a 'sleep' functioin for the blackberry? Not what blackberry is calling the sleep function (the do-not-disturb mode with the dimmed clock interface), but a setting you can turn on while you have music or a podcast running and an hour later the music player will be turned off.

No, snooze is when the music is silenced for x number of minutes and comes back on. Sleep is when the music continues to run but a timer (usually about ~ 45/60 mins) will turn the music off so when you've falled asleep it doesn't play through out the night.

I don't listen to music or podcasts on my blackberry so I don't know.

Not with the default app. You need third party app for that.
I made playlist for certain playing time and put it on shuffle, works for me

I've used the Neutron Music Player sleep timer and it does the job. Music X, which is cheaper, features one too but I haven't tried it.
