So our company is running BES5 right now and we are looking to upgrade to BES10 within the next couple days but want to keep BES5 running for a while since we have older devices. We are running BES5 on a virtual server. Should we install BES10 on the same server as BES5? We are looking to do the mobile management as well and will be using the older blackberry devices on BES5 until we upgrade the devices to BB10 devices. We also want to test iOS and Android devices on it as well for BYOD that we are implementing.

Can someone help us through this process, or at least point us to the right direction as some instructions on how to do this? We've tried customer support at blackberry and they are just rude and unhelpful.

Would very much appreciate the help.

    Thank you!

MODERATORS - This should get moved to the Enterprise --> BES 10 forum.

You don't actually "upgrade" BES 5 to BES 10, rather you install BES 10 as a separate product and the BlackBerry Mobile Studio (BMS) web interface that comes with it can provide management of the BES 5 and BES 10 services. BES 10 is designed to all for full co-existence and so you have nothing to worry about there except following the documentation and configuring the BES 10 BMS to work with your BES 5 BAS.

The BES 10 actually has 3 main components.
    1. The BlackBerry Device Service (BDS) manages BB 10 devices like the BES 5 managed legacy BBOS devices.
    2. The Universal Device Service (UDS) manages Android and iOS devices in a similar fashion.
    3. The BMS ties the management of all 3 components (BES 5, BDS, UDS) into a "single pane of glass.

Here is the document repository for the BES 10:
BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 - Manuals and Guides
There are some good docs for you to review including an "Upgrade" guide.

You can install BES 10 on the server with BES 5, but if you have had the BES 5 server for a while you might want to consider setting up BES 10 on a new clean VM so you can shut down and delete the old BES 5 when you are done.

I'd second all of HotFix's advice.

BB offers some excellent support for this; they want as many shops as possible making this move.
