Mysterious BB10 hardware caught on camera
Seems like there's a new BB10 device spotted in Kuwait... What do you think? Is this the BB10 Limited edition developer's device? An upgraded Dev Alpha B? Or another phone that's gonna be announced in 4 days time? Looks like an upgraded Dev Alpha B to me..

This particular form with the squared corners has shown up before, I am confused why everyone seems to think it is a Dev Alpha B?
Even if you have not handled a Dev Alpha B, from all the available photos on the internet it is clear that the Dev Alpha B internal is early L series hardware with a outer casing, complete with rounded corners.

This casing the reason the screen is not flush as is the case with the final hardware of the Z10. - 01-26-2013, 09:11 AM #7
I wouldn't be surprised if it is just a slightly updated version of the dev alpha b, we have seen in the past reports where gestures did not work quite right due to the bezel on that device so it would make sense for rim to have made some special demo devices for when they were doing demos to people who were not allowed to see final hardware.

Dev Alpha B -- no question.

The guy is right when he says that the dev alpha B has a sunken screen. This kind of reminds me of an sony experia design.

Yes, this does indeed look different.
Would actually be cool if this did turn out to be the DevAlpha trade-in. Might also be a new-gen Dev Alpha.

Update I think the pictures are from Rapid Berry which state that it is a training device for sales reps and the one here is being used to teach a sales rep in Kuwait about the platform. Here is the link: BlackBerry 10 Device: Some new pictures appear | RapidBerry

I think its a dev alpha b with the plastic screen protector not removed. Look carefully near bezels around the phones.. Identical. Imagine if U put that plastic cover on the first pic. Would it not be the same as the one below it?
And the fact that the second pic doesn't show the entire phone itself is another reason we mistake it for a new device. - 01-27-2013, 02:53 AM #16
I believe this is a Dev Alpha B unit with the front outer bezel being removed. Actually if you look the image from the side more carefully, you'll notice that it's edgy/uneven on the 1/3 side-front part of the device.. cmiiw

It's definitely NOT a Dev Alpha B, even though it looks a lot like one. The pictures make it look like a lower quality device.
My best guess is that it's a lower end BB10 device that will be released around the same time. Or a knockoff.Blackberry 10 > Windows Phone 7/8 > Blackberry 7 > iOS > Android > Symbian > WebOS > Meego - 01-27-2013, 01:16 PM #19
This looks EXACTLY like the Z10's I saw at BlackBerry Experience last week... it's a Z10 with SQUARE edges and 1 GB RAM. It's NOT a Dev Alpha B. The About screen on the phone said Model: BlackBerry Z10, Version: STL100-1... so this could be an earlier version of the Z10, NOT for sale.

Then why does the About screen say "BlackBerry Z10"? Unless the Dev Alpha B is also being called the Z10...
The molding on the phone is not the same as the Dev B, though the phone internals very likely could be the same as the Dev B... the RIM folks I talked to only said the Z10's I played with were not the final consumer model. But they were still calling those "evaluation" units Z10s...957 -> 6710 -> 8310 -> 8350 -> 9700 -> iPhone 4S -> Z10 - 01-27-2013, 09:39 PM #25
