Agreed. Definitely an issue with the touch hardware, not the OS. Maybe a switch to long press emergency would be nice. Something like a 3 second timer.

Put a password!!! I've had the z10 since the day it was available in Canada. I carry it in my front pocket and have NEVER dialed or texted anyone.
Seems like a simple solution to have a password..

Activate password... even a simple one. like the 4 digit pin of your bank card or 1111.

Hold down the top screen lock. Button and the screen lock button will appear so you can instantly lock device without waiting the minute for it to lock.

Throw it in your pocket with the knowledge that it's locked immediately.

My Z30 does lots of strange things if I forget to lock the screen and put it in my pocket. I never had such issues with my old iPhone. Sure, it may have done something, but not as intelligent as Blackberry 10 OS. It seems it has a mind of it's own if you leave it unlocked. I have the setting that you have to press the button to lock/unlock it, (I turned off swipe to unlock).

It is very annoying as you don't always have time to lock the screen, or you forget - life gets in the way you are busy and don't have the screen locked. Ok I know it's my own fault for not locking the screen but the touch is super sensitive...

The strangest thing that happened to me is that my Z30 successfully sent a picture text message to one of my contacts while it was in my pocket. Yes, somehow it attached the photo and even sent the text while in my pocket...

I was mowing my lawn the other day. Ear protection and goggles. Of course my Z30 had just made a 911 call. Two patrol cars were parked right in front of me for a few minutes watching me. Man, I thought the worst but it was my Z30. I was charged for the call plus taxes.

I've never had this happen to me in the year I've had my Z10.

And I keep the phone in my pocket with the glass facing my leg (imagine bumping into the corner of a table right into the glass side of phone).

But I'm in the habit of clicking the top lock button as I place the phone in my pocket. I also have the phone set so that you have to click the button again to just turn the screen on, then you still have to swipe up to completely unlock the phone.

The only time the screen even comes on now is if a notification comes in - a 10.3 feature that I've only had for about two weeks. So far, that hasn't caused issues yet because you still have to swipe up.

But, I also don't have a password set, so the "emergency call" button doesn't come up anywhere. Even so, I don't pocket-dial regular numbers or take pocket pictures either.

I've had my Z10 now since February 2013. I've never once packet dialed anyone or 911. I generally keep my phone in my back pocket, with the lock button facing downwards and the screen facing my skin. Guess I'm just lucky!

I'll never face my phone outwards, as I always have this fear of something hitting the screen just enough to crack it through my pants.
