    Hi,

I have been meaning to ask this for some time now.

I notice my Z10 (since 10.0 to now 10.2.1047), has never connected to Wireless at a higher speed than 65M although it's a wireless N nic. I haven't located further details on the NIC's specification to know if that is indeed the limit.

I have a dual band router with two separate SSIDs. With my laptop I get the 300M theoretical connection limit on the 5Ghz band with no issue.

The BB on the other hand connects at 65M using either the 2.4 or 5Ghz band. I have also confirmed this behaviour on other wireless networks.

I was really expecting a better NIC on new hardware in 2013. If this is 65M maximum then it truly is bad.

    Thanks in advance.

Unless I'm misunderstanding you, isn't the actual data transfer speed more relevant than the theoretical maximum? ie as long as my wifi isn't slower than my data connection, I don't care if the wifi is at 90% or 30%?

Hi the data transfer never cross 56M (the max i believe for a 65M wireless-n connection). I guess in summary, the Z10 comes with a single radio wireless-N NIC.

    Does that clarify?

I think it's the number of internal antennas, not the actual radio. My wife's laptop only has a single N antenna and always connects at lower speeds than my laptop which has 3.

Perhaps BlackBerry toned the speed down like the limit placed on the Playbook. Its cap able of more, but the effects on battery life is why it's capped.

According to @CNET, Hong Kong has the highest average web connection speed at 63.3Mbps:http://blck.by/19OjDBU
