When I open an email on my Q10, it will also show as read on my macbook "mail". However, when I open an email on my macbook( either apple account or gmail account) , the email will still show unread on my phone. I have to manually refresh my email accounts on my phone to show my emails as read. How can this be done automatically?

I think this may have to do with your sync interval. See at the bottom of the picture how my sync is set to 24 hrs? That is because I don't need Gmail polling the folders and mail to check every 5 minutes what has or hasn't been opened on other devices.

If you want more timely updating I would set this to 1 hour or more.

Try and see it this works and helps with this issue.

Adjust server settings / sync interval yo your needs. Refresh folders by clicking "get mail", if you like.
