This is the second time it's happened. The first time I started to panic when I first saw it, but logged into my gmail account via a web browser and all the contacts were still there

I store all my contacts in my google account. None locally or in sim so they sync across all my devices.
In theory this works great.
Today like once before I have no contacts at all in my google account.
None, Zero.
The only way to get the contacts back is to delete the account, and re add it.
This has worked so far.
Any idea why? It's like the phone is disassociating the account.

check to make sure that all your contacts are in the "My Contacts" group. only those will sync with your phone. if you tried to organize them into other groups then they also have to be in "My Contacts"

It's not an issue of whether contacts sync or not.
They sync just fine.
I lose the entire google contacts list.
When I look in the contacts I see my @google contacts list, but when I select it there are no contacts there. 0.
If I delete the account and add it new again all the contacts import, and it even remembers my favorites.

Yep. This happens every few months. Not sure if it's a blackberry or Google thing.. my Google contacts are at 0 right now too.. very annoying

I have both calendar, and contacts under that email account.
I deleted just the contacts portion, saved, then added new with the same email address, and selected contacts only.
Within a couple of minutes it was all back like nothing had happened.

Mine came back on its own. Seems like Google or Blackberry hits the restart button on a server or something. It happens every once in a while. Wait it out, the contacts will come back. This was the fastest I've seen. Sometimes you have to wait a few days until it comes back.
