Does anyone have any luck getting a VPN setup? I have looked into a few services (Proxpn, ironsocket) but they are all Openvpn, PPTP, or L2TP, which blackberry apparently doesn't support for some weird reason.

    Any suggestions?

I keep meaning to try this Vpn. They support the MS ikev2 VPN. You can try it and let us know if it works.

What I want is a VPN to my home router. That would be best served with OpenVPN.

Although many common VPN protocols are not supported by Blackberry, your device can still get connected through Microsoft IKEv2.
Unfortunately there are few VPN providers that offer blackberry compatible services but you can still find them by some googling.
Personally I've subscribed to purevpn for a year and it fortunately supports blackberry.
Their configuration guide for Z10 could be helpful as well:

I looked at the faq for Witopia and it should work to.

What you may want to check out is how many clients (if that is the right word) you can use at a time. That is, you want a VPN for the phone and one at home. Privacy for your phone and geographic switching at home for getting around blocking. For me, that would be appearing to be in the UK for BBC streaming.

Just cancelled VPNReactor. Signed up with and seeing how PureVPN does.
VPNReactor was slow at times and resulted in time outs and dropped tunnels.

The trouble is AWS is pretty expensive compared to a commercial VPN. I looked at putting StrongSwan on my DD-WRT router and it looked ugly.

I have web hosting on AWS, but 3rd party. I considered asking the owner if we would be able to use AWS for a VPN, but he isn't happy with the AWS performance and is going back to colo eventually.

Free up to 15 GB a month. So depends on usage, but that's tons for me for hotspot browsing and tunlr like dns functionality.

How about giving us a report in a month or so with your experience with Pure VPN.

I've been running PureVPN the last 24 hours with no issues but I think I'm going to drop it in favor of a max vpnreactor account.

It's tough...no logs with PureVPN but based out of China. Very limited logs for five days with vpnreactor, shared IP instead of static (I prefer dynamic to static - shared is okay) but based out of the US. China and the US both suck. I don't trust either gov't to not pry.

I wish BlackBerry supported openvpn. It would open up so many more doors.

Me too. Hopefully BlackBerry is reading this.

For one thing, you can use OpenVPN with many routers. You wouldn't need a VPN pay service.

Also, OpenVPN is very secure and is updated regularly. Many good free and secure VPN services use it.

Witopia. No issues.Be advised however that incoming calls disconnect the VPN connection. You must reconnect after concluding the call.
