    Yeah I noticed it is the default for Gmail if the person put a photo in their Gmail /Google+ profile

    If you have the option selected to pull information from other sources then you may see this logo.

    Thank you for your post because I have always wondered the same and asked once with no success (probably because I described it as a sideways power button).
