fed ex delivered my q5 today. ordered from best buy. i live in california.
i turned it on and was prompted to update to 10.2
i am with AT&T. my sim card was not inserted during boot up!

New devices will always get the update pushed out from BB as long as there was no SIM in it to register on the network.

The phones check for regional updates in addition to ones pushed by carriers when a sim is inserted.

We are (by that I mean most of the world lol). It's just that the U.S carriers seem have something against BlackBerry and are always the last ones to push updates for BlackBerry (10) devices.

Please stop spreading misinformation. AT&T is NOT pushing out this update. This is the same method as inserting a Canadian SIM into an American device to force the latest oficial update to be pulled from the Canadian carriers that just happen to usually be up to date.
