From the helpblog on BlackBerry there is an article about ten ways to improve battery life. Since I am still having bad battery life, I read it to make sure I was doing everything I could. This is when I noticed this info:
Whenever possible, it is recommended that customers use Active Sync or IMAP over POP when setting up a new account because they are more efficient protocols for a mobile device.
I use Outlook, and I looked into it and it uses POP, so this could be contributing to poor battery. I am wondering how people using IMAP's battery life is like. And what exactly the difference will be if I switch to IMAP?
    Thanks a lot!

Having just tested this last night, IMAP (such as that available on GMail) is as instantaneous in receiving messages as a BIS email (carrier.blackberry.net). That's a plus. ActiveSync is something that your company, if they support it, would provide, as it's a Microsoft Exchange Server service.
