    I currently have my gmail sync set to a relatively low setting but I'm interested in trying to conserve battery life with a longer one (ie 24 hours). Does this affect the rate at which emails are received or only deleting emails, changes to folder nesting etc?

    It should only affect the intervals of deletion and folders from my experience.

    As long as the option for "use push if supported" is checked the email will still be pushed
