** EDIT ** Since Christmas 2014 the Beeb have 'graciously' started to recognise that BB10 phones exist allowing iPlayer to work in the Browser on OS 10.3.1 without Flash.

See post #58 for more news.
    ** EDIT **

So far from the 10.3.1 leaks it would seem that when 10.3.1 officially hits BlackBerry 10 phones nobody in the UK will be able to watch BBC iPlayer on their BlackBerry because Adobe Flash has been removed from the Browser and BB10 is an unsupported platform on iPlayer (there is no native app in other words).

The iPlayer Android apps don't work properly on BB10, latest leak or not, they play the audio but not the video stream.

So here is the challenge then UK based guys and girls, what's the best non-BB10 browser based way to get BBC iPlayer usable on a BB10 phone?

I'm thinking it can only be an Android Browser and an Android based Adobe Flash solution, so what are the best options out there in Android .apk land?

It will be a very negative thing for BlackBerry in the UK when/if 10.3.1 stops BBC iPlayer from working. It is a huge media destination for sofa based, desk based and on-the-move people alike.

That has not been officially confirmed anywhere, so go "oh goodness" yourself thank you very much.

In fact we are a month away from Classic launch and yesterday's build of BB10 that leaked, 10.3.1.938 does not contain Flash. Still praying that it's coming back?

I was told by the janitor from the night shift over at one of the BlackBerry's buildings.

A leak is a LEAK. So what it was made yesterday? It's not a full OS. Dark HUB isn't there either and we know it's a 10.3.1 feature.

Now chill. It's gonna be there.

Dark Hub wasn't removed before "reappearing", you're not comparing like with like.

And who isn't chilled?!? Stop being so presumptuous as to tell people to "chill" whom you know nothing about the temperament of.

Unfortunately that app doesn't seem to just be a browser with mobile Flash built in, it seems to be streaming the contents out to a server outside of the UK and back again, to convert it for display I would say. It's possibly proxying too as the iPlayer website detects it as someone trying to watch from outside the UK which makes the content unavailable.

You can download the latest version of the mobile flash 11 apk from Adobe. Install it along with the Firefox browser. That works too - just a heavier solution.

That sounds like it will get around the proxying problem, I'll try that tomorrow, thanks.

It is available on 10.3.0. It is supposed to available on 10.3.1 as well.

It is not found in the leaked versions of 10.3.1 to date. No reason yet to get your knickers in a twist.

Adobe Air is also in 10.3 and they will be dropping support for it that soon for Passport users once 10.3.1 lands.

So the timing of dropping things in 10.3.1 for new Passport owners so soon after they bought the phone doesn't seem to be an issue to BlackBerry.

If you read the first post you'll see that they don't work well at all for me.

On my Z10 STL100-2 on the last two 10.3.1.x leaks the BBC Media Player Android app plays the sound but not the video of anything I try.

At last something that works! And native too! I guess it's using HTML5 to stream instead of Flash?

The picture quality is poor though, looks very low res. Is it like that for you?
