Now personally I feel Emailing over BIS is great compared to current option in BB 10.

How it will be if we have BIS option in "Accounts" section under settings? So, if a user wants his Emails over BIS he can opt that otherwise the regular one; after all it is a software. (I mean no extra Hardware requirement).
Email filters, Delete only from Handheld are very useful options in daily routine which are available in Legacy OS.

Why was BIS so great? I always had a ton of problems. EAS is like having a stripped down version of BES. It works much better.

Bis was very good on OS7 devices because you could do anything and it wouldn't charge you at all, you didn't need to have any extra data bundles...

I don't get charged now for anything extra. I had to pay extra for BIS in the past. I can still do everything I did before but faster and so far more reliable. I am confused by your post.

You are right to a degree, but a lot of important fields that used to sync have been omitted with EAS when compared to BIS or BES !!

BIS was good for Data compression. That's about all. Also the @carrier.blackberry.net emails were nice too.

Missing fields are from the OS not the method of syncing.

I am curious what problems did you ever had with BIS? In my case with bis I used to have instant yahoo and work emails delivered while on Q10 I have 3 minutes yahoo delay amd office emails not even working anymore.

Plus that BIS was unlimeted emails, browsing and chat and now I have only 1GB traffic for 3 times more money.

I used my Hotmail account with BIS. I had ddelays in my email. At least once a month, I would get old emails from my account, sometimes even duplicate copies of the same emails. Often, emails would not send.

On a side note, my BES through work wasn't great either. It always had problems. EAS has worked the best for me. I can see why other platforms have already been using it.

So it can be added, if BlackBerry chooses to do so?

I believe so. I really miss the task reminders with date and time for Tasks which are now synchronized to Remember. I used those instead of actual due dates. I am hoping they come back eventually.

I agree! Only get 1 Gig so have to limit to the amount of emails I send in a month, the amount if social networking I use! BIS was great with that and would be great if they decide to use it on BlackBerry Z10 as well

No. There are limitations to the fields EAS can sync.

CalDAV is better but depends on implementation (server-side and phone).

So I would imagine there are limitations to the fields that EAS can sync. But are all the available ones being used for syncing with fields in BB10? I believe task reminders (with time/date and not the due date) also should sync. That is a field not currently available on BB10 in Reminder.

That's a limitation of Remember not EAS. Due Times won't be available until BB10 10.2.

Are there any 3rd party providers who provide a bes account facility....it would probably make a "safer" cloud than relying on Outlook.come or Google .gone .

If you know any such providers, please share., I couldn't find any obvious leads on Google but I didn't try more than once.

That's what I thought. But above you said it was a limitation of EAS when I suggested such a field could be added.

No problem. Just wanted to check to make sure.

By the way, what is limited in the Contacts? I feel like each entry has more fields with more information than I see in my Microsoft Office Outlook.

Off the top of my head, EAS will not sync the following:

Phone number listed as "Other" or any of the addition types that have been added.

    Custom created fields.

    Nicknames, titles or manager fields.

Custom address labels (but I do believe "Other" is supported.

No more than 3 phone numbers.
