No offense, but aren't you the same folks who ran that infamous web site full of bootleg PB apps? And why does the current version of the vnPButils app include an option to extract .BAR files from a PB backup image? For what purpose would someone want to extract the .BAR file outside of software piracy?
Seems a bit fishy to me...

Thanks for this because I had a few apps that I lost the bar files to. now the crap is off my phone and off my playbook. Nice Program will definitely recommend to friends of mine that sideload a heck of a lot of apps.

Ever think of myabe someone has a different ID on both their devices (playbook/z10,playbook/playbook) and maybe want an app that they paid for but can't have it because of the different ID so they transfer it like that, and also, the destop software already allows bar excraction in a different form,so im guessing blackberry is encouraging piracy also? Sighs just appreciate the developers work jeez or just dont use it.

You're absolutely right. In fact, why not extrapolate your logic to other platforms? I'm sure Microsoft won't care if that copy of Office you bought for your home PC ends up on your wife's laptop, your brother's tablet and your neighbor's netbook. After all, you paid for it, right?
Of course, Microsoft *does* care, which is why they implemented their various activation mechanisms (WGA, et al).
Bottom Line: Just because you can get away with it doesn't mean it's OK to do so.
Besides, I thought RIM fixed this security hole by encrypting the backup image and tying individual App World .BAR packages to specific BB ID's.
Like Microsoft, the folks from Waterloo also seem to care, so much so that they've taken steps to stop what they consider to be an unauthorized exploitation of their backup mechanism.

They would care, unless you have multiple licenses. I know that office professional can be installed on 4 different computers using one
disclicense key. Maybe blackberry has a similar license situation when it comes to apps, or I should say the third party developer may have a multiple license agreement when you download the application. Regardless, piracy of apps only hurts the platform so im in agreement with you, if you dont own the app or you have one license....dont install it on multiple devices.Download The EGO Mag Online app for Blackberry 5,6,7, Playbook and the all new Blackberry 10!
