No flick typing for me. I have been using a Z30 for just over two months. Though I did use a Z10 for three months from when it launched back in January, before moving to a Q10.
No flick typing and people should really type longer paragraphs. I started at the first two of sentences at around 70, but it dropped me off to 54 after more words.
Haha! This is hilarious for me (the app author). This poor (free!) app has languished in the store until now, with only a handful of downloads a day. I wrote it in a few hours back in January to take advantage of one of those BlackBerry "hackathon" things where (in this case) each submitted app got the developer $100.
I do believe it's only for the touch devices right now, and not for the Q10. Is there any point in supporting the physical keyboard too? (Just curious whether any qwerty users look at this and think "Hey, I'd like to measure my typing speed properly too.")
I'm also intrigued that the advertisement appears to work. Back in the earlier part of the year the ad inventory was non-existent and I never saw anything but that placeholder "ad" for Engenuity.
In case anyone is wondering what makes this app special: this one is "smart"! It doesn't insist that you keep typing super-fast the entire time just to get a good number, since that's not how people actually type. If you pause for long enough (a couple of seconds, I believe), it effectively "reverses time" and doesn't count the time since you stopped. That lets you type at your top speed for a bit, then pause to think or glance at what you're copying, and then start typing again. It discounts the lull where you're not typing. It's a unique feature, I suspect. Edit: this may explain results like DJ's above: "didn't think I was this fast".

There is a better way to test out typing speed. Check out Thumb Master in BlackBerry World! You can find it at http://appworld.blackberry.com/webst...ntent/19876092 if y'all give me a bit, I might be able to wrestle up a few freebies for the competition.
