I thought there was a way of determining what band/s my phone was currently operating on. I've googled this and can't seem to find any info.

    Anyone know?

(I know what bands my Classic has, I just want to know which of my telco's bands its currently using, at a given point in time/place)

    Ask your provider.

Some phones has service menu, where some points are showed and can be adjusted. On Android, there's an app, called WiFi analyzer, it shows all the info about all connections.
