    Hello,
Im facing high battery drain and heating on my bb q10 phone. When i go to device manager the 1st drainer appears to be the SYSTEM with a very high percentage. I've tried security wipe, using autoloaders, deleting accounts, apps. Its been so for a few months now and i rly want to fix it. The battery lasts 8 hours even if i dont use it. Please help.

    I am currently running Software release 10.2.1.3072 , os version 10.2.1.3442 , radio 10.2.1.3140

Looks like you've tried a number of fixes. Two things come to mind: try wiping the phone and don't add any apps back at first to see if the problem still exists. If not, add back your apps one at a time to isolate the offending app. If it's still causing issues with no apps then autoload a different OS and do the same thing as above.

Hopefully this way you'll be able to see if it's an OS issue or an app that's causing the drain.

    What Howardshap said above.......

If you are running an official OS release, look into the BBM process, I just got hit with it after the BBM update. I have had my Z30 for a year and not one issue, except this. A restart fixed it, but keeping an eyeball on it.

    Second: Android apps..........

Ive had this issue for 2 months now , i tried security wipe , used autoloaders . That high system drain is still there even if i dont have any apps installed, accounts, contacts. Battery drains on airplane mode too. Is it possible that some android apps that i installed long time ago to remain in the background even after using autoloaders/security wipes? I just downloaded an app called ghost commander. My current os was installed somewhere around 1 dec 2014. In ghost commander when i go to apps installed i see some apps from 03 september like
    -android live wallpaper
    -android systembasic daydreams
    -black hole
    -bubbles
    -c2dm
    -calendar
    -calendar storage
    -certificate installer
    -com.android.backupconfig
    -com.androidsharedstorage
    -com.androidsmspush
    -com.android.wallpaper
    -contacts
    -contacts storage

And many others. These are listed to 03 september. But my os is installed this month.

    !! i did not use a backup-> restore !! it was a fresh install

Really surprised to hear a full security wipe didn't clean everything from your phone. Looks like it's the Android apps causing your issue. What program did you use to install those apps?

I really dont know how to use the ghost commander app or if i should delete those apps i listed. Maybe its nothing wrong with them , maybe they are some os related apps that everyone has.

I've never worked with Ghost Commander but I'd start by deleting any app you listed above with the name Android in it. It won't cause any problems with your current OS and give you a chance to see if that helps fix your issue.

At this point I would do a security wipe, then use an autoloader and put a different OS on your phone. Then follow what I suggested in my first post as far as loading things back onto your phone. Be interested to see if that doesn't sort the issue.

I did not install the autoloader yet, i will when i get home. But something just crossed my mind after reading some posts on the forum. Could it be that my current radio causes this battery drain ?
Im currently on Software release 10.2.1.3072 , os version 10.2.1.3442 , radio 10.2.1.3140

i decided to go with a 10.3.0.1418 autoloader after i wiped my device. I did not restore, i did not add any accounts or apps and the battery is still draining like hell. i've lost 5 % in 10 minutes. my battery is 30 % with 1 hour left (wtf) . the SYSTEM is still the top battery drainer, i will come back with a screenshot in 12,24 hours

After you install a new OS you can certainly expect a higher than normal drain for one or two days.

Also, you mentioned radio. How is your signal strength? How about WIFI? Those certainly can be a big drain on battery if your not getting good signal and your phone is constantly searching for it.

If you're not using WIFI you can turn it off. Turn off Bluetooth when not in use. Lower screen brightness to as little as you can comfortably work with. I also keep location services off when not in use.

Ok so i've been waiting 2 days , its the same . My battery lasts 8 hours even if i dont use the phone at all. the system is the main drainer.
I did not restore, i did not add any accounts or apps. Just a fresh install of 10.3.0.1418 autoloader. Should i install another radio ? or another os autoloader?

Well, you've just updated, it's too soon. Can take 1 week. That said, you don't have much network usage, or either CPU, but the battery goes down to quickly.
Why choose this leak version and not the last stable 10.3.1.1154 ? There is report of excessive battery drain with prior version. Not one of this leak is made for the Q10 though but the last one is nearer to the release.
Trying a leak is not a good choice to solve a battery issue. The only good thing is the wipe that can delete a incriminated app...

Have to agree with Joshu42 that using a leak is probably not the best battery-wise. I never saw very good battery life on the 10.3.xx leaks I used. But you've tried so many things already. What carrier are you with and what is their latest official OS?

I'm not sure if you ever answered me regarding your cell signal strength. Do you have a good signal generally? How about WIFI? Not sure what else to suggest.

Can be a hardware failure from a faulty battery to bad connectors... Did you have an issue where your phone reboot on his own ? Use a pencil eraser on the golden connectors and place a small plastic token at the bottom of your battery (opposed to the connectors) to assure a good connection.

The wifi signal and cell signal are both good. About that plastic token i'm not sure i got it. can you be more specific? is there a tutorial or smthing?
